Hotels, restaurants, stadiums, convention centers and arenas have an obligation to secure credit card data used in financial transactions. A security breach, especially involving credit card data, can result in monetary fines, devalued stock price, tarnished reputation, reduced customer loyalty and financial losses for you and your customer.
The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) is a comprehensive set of principles and requirements designed to assist organizations in proactively protecting customer account data. The standard was created by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council-- including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc.
Adhering to the PCI Data Security Standard reflects industry best practices, reduces risk and provides assurance for companies processing credit cards. Application of this industry standard strengthens a company’s ability to prevent security breaches that may result in unauthorized access to customers’ credit card data.

Your Delphi sales and catering application must be considered when evaluating the security of your business critical systems. Since your Delphi sales and catering system was not designed to store, process or transmit credit card data it is not required to maintain PCI compliance. However, it may still be at risk for storage of credit card information. Some Delphi users’ may input customer credit card information in free-form comment fields or user defined fields. Additionally credit card information may be imported into Delphi through integration with third-party systems (PMS, CRES, POS, etc.). Newmarket has developed Delphi CC Safeguard to minimize your risk of unintended storage of customer credit card information in your Delphi database.
How it Works
Delphi CC Safeguard is a software program that will identify areas in your Delphi database containing credit card information. Working with your team, Newmarket will identify areas of your Delphi database that could store credit card numbers and put you at risk. Additionally, CC Safeguard can remediate these vulnerabilities by altering existing credit cards numbers to replace the digits with XXXXs. You can maintain ongoing security by periodically running the software at intervals that work best for your business process. Additional safeguards can also be put in place to remediate any new credit card numbers stored in your Delphi database.
